The final Merritt Lane Ranch monogram logo in burnt red

The problem

Merritt Lane Ranch was sponsoring a table at a charity luncheon and needed a logo in time for the event.

The goal

A logo that feels true to the ranch and is simple enough to weld into an iron gate or print on a jar label.

My role

I designed the logo, took it through concepts and final files, then created a flyer for the ranch to use at the event.

Pitch 1

Three concepts

I started with three directions. Two took the idea of a cattle brand literally: the ranch’s initials on a branding iron, and an interlocking MLR monogram set in an open oval. The third was more personal, built from silhouettes of the ranch’s three dogs.

Merritt Lane Ranch picked the monogram, the second concept, to move forward.

Pitch 2

Refining the brand

I refined the monogram into clean, even strokes so the letters lock together and hold up at any size. Then I set it in a burnt red that feels at home on a ranch.

I delivered it in full color, black, and reversed white so it works on any background. The ranch approved it right away.

Pitch 3

Event flyer

With the logo done, I designed a simple flyer for the luncheon. It pairs the new mark with Lighthouse Counseling’s logo and celebrates the partnership as Lighthouse brings its services to Placer County.

Results

The ranch approved the final logo right away, loved it, and had it in hand for the luncheon.

Approved right away

The refined monogram was signed off as soon as the ranch saw it.

Ready for the luncheon

Final logo files and the event flyer were delivered in time for the sponsorship.

Built to be used anywhere

Full color, black, and reversed versions cover print, signage, and digital.

What I learned

A few clearly different concepts helped the client choose a direction with confidence.
